PLAYING THE LONG GAME

Among neatly cropped greens, sunken, sand-filled bunkers and clusters of pruned trees, is a community of young golfers, who while teeing off, build the skillset needed to navigate life’s challenges. The John A. White Golf Course, just seven miles from downtown Atlanta, Georgia, is the home of First Tee – Metro Atlanta. This public nine-hole course plays a vital role in the mental health of young people across metropolitan Atlanta.
For over 25 years, First Tee – Metro Atlanta has helped young people aged seven to 18 build character, confidence and life skills through the game of golf. The programme draws on the strong parallels between golf and life to instill core values that can support mental wellbeing alongside keeping children active.
